You really want to go ahead with this on EFnet? Sure we'll get a
shitload of publicity for #macintosh (and AMUG for that matter I'm sure),
but much of that can end up to hurt us. The EFnet really doesn't lend
itself well to the forum environment, it's too unstable. Also, there are
provisions on the undernet for dealing with problem users and channel
takeovers, which are not available on the EFnet. Even if we DID have a
couple of IRCop, and someone was able to massdeop the channel for some
reason, there is NO way we're gonna get ops back..... We can't ask 200
people to leave for 5 minutes and come back, cause it's not gonna
happen. On the Undernet, all an IRCop has to do is send a simple /msg,
and channel ops are reestablished, or bans placed/removed, or any channel
mode, for that matter. There is also X, the bot that always stays
opped. If you deop X, it reops itself.

I still think that the undernet is the best option.
