I have been thinking about how to define the net, but I realized that it's
not very useful to explain in words what the Internet is anyway. I read The
Internet Starter Kit, which explains it pretty well. I thought I knew what
it'd be like, but I really didn't. I think that the best way is to
demonstrate the Internet or WWW to them, although if this is for a book
that's kinda hard to do.
For the "What can the Internet do for me?" question, you could show them
what you use it for, and ask them what they think it might be useful for.
Then you could tell them if the Internet could do that, and show them how,
etc.
Maybe you can come up with some really good analogies...it's not really
good enough, though. Not even for explaining hds and RAM :)
