Why should be op: Well I have had a long line of experience with sysoping and
cosysoping BBSes so I know how to deal with people. I have been in the
online community for 9 years.
I don't let power go to my head (unlike some) and I don't get an attitude
with
newbies (unlike some) and I am not a dictator (unlike some) and I feel
that I
can fufill the requirements of operator in an above-average manner.
I am also using Homer which would allow me to react to situations much faster
than if i had to type commands. I watched the other night as three people
took the channel hostage and deoped everyone including macserv. Using homer
(along with the homer friend list) would help me to provide some assistance
in an event like this. The only thing I could do last time was watch
everyone go bye-bye.
I cannot say that I have been on for a long time or that I spend tons of time
every day in the channel. I do visit the channel daily and have met a lot of
the ops (I cannot meet some because they never seem to be on).
I don't think that time should be the only requirement for op. Ability,
enthusiam, etc. should also be considered.
